Two people were rescued on the Congaree River Friday morning after the boat they were in capsized, according to the Columbia Fire Department.
Crews received the call about 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, department spokesman Brick Lewis said.
There were four people on a craft, and they ended up in the water around the Blossom Street and Gervais Street bridge, Lewis said. Two made it to shore, and two people were stranded.
The two people rescued off the river were taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, Lewis said.
The West Columbia Fire Department, the Columbia Police Department, Cayce Public Safety and Richland County Emergency Services assisted in the rescue.
