Babies are born everyday in South Carolina and Monday was no exception – even though it was the day of the 2017 solar eclipse.
One family commemorated the birth of a baby girl and the historic event, legally naming their daughter “Eclipse.”
Eclipse Alizabeth Eubanks was born at Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was delivered at 8:04 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.
“I kind of felt like it was meant to happen, to have her on this day,” mother Freedom Eubanks said to yahoo.com, adding that she and father Michael Eubanks originally planned to name her Violet. “I think it was just meant to be, her name. We’re probably going to call her Clipsey.”

The Eubanks have another 2-year-old daughter, Grayson.
In addition to her unique name, Eclipse also received another special gift because of her birthday. Babies born at Greenville Health System hospitals were being given onesies celebrating the solar eclipse.
