A SC businessman allegedly kept the tax on $3.7 million in sales. Now he faces charges

A Hopkins businessman was arrested Wednesday and charged with not paying tax on $3.7 million in sales.

Ronnie L. Dozier, 53, operated Intimate Elements in Richland County, since 2016, according to its listing on the South Carolina Secretary of State listing.

The South Carolina Department of Revenue alleges Dozier did not pay sales tax from 2016 through 2021 and owes a total of $224,052.

According to his Instagram page, the business is described as “beauty, cosmetic and personal care.” Its website shows it sells wigs.

The department also alleges he operated without a state retail license and used several bank accounts to conceal his purchases.

He faces six counts of tax evasion, one for each year. The warrants say Intimate Elements had more than $44,000 in sales in 2016, growing to more than $1.5 million in 2021.

If convicted, Dozier faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000 per count.

At midday Wednesday, he was in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
