A prime piece of Columbia real estate has been sold to local company for its headquarters
The busy intersection of Columbia’s Millwood Avenue and Gervais Street is getting a new resident: Colite Technologies, a company with ties to Columbia Councilman Peter Brown.
The project at 2405 Millwood Ave. will see the former Nuttall Tire and Auto Repair shop converted into a headquarters and warehouse for Colite International spinoff company Colite Technologies, which deals in sustainable energy for businesses — think solar panels and the like.
The 15,000-square-foot former tire shop will be renovated and updated with a modern exterior. Images from Colite Technologies shows a white exterior with black and gray accents. Colite Technologies will move into the building next summer, when renovations are expected to be finished.
“This will be a huge shot in the arm for this area,” Mayor Daniel Rickenmann said in a news release.
Nuttall Tire operated out of the Millwood Avenue site for more than two decades before announcing in 2020 that the company would relocate to a larger facility on Two Notch Road. The property, which is in a prime location at a major Columbia intersection, has been vacant since.
“As Managing Partners of Colite International, and Co-founders of Colite Technologies, my brother Marty and I are proud to reinvest in Columbia and specifically the Millwood (Ave.) and Gervais St. area.” Brown said in a statement. “As a City Councilman, I have seen first-hand the progress in Columbia, and I couldn’t be more excited about the prospects for significant growth opportunities throughout our great city. This is an amazing time in Columbia and Marty and I are pleased to be a part of this Renaissance.”
The sale price for the property was not immediately available. The property has a taxable value of $340,200, according to local property tax records.
Brown was elected to City Council during a special election in March, held to replace late councilman Joe Taylor, who died unexpectedly just after Christmas.
Brown is president of Colite International, a corporate signage company based in Columbia that has worked with companies including Amazon, Hilton Hotels and other major brands. Colite Technologies was formed out of Colite International in 2018 and is now an independent company.
