A longtime Columbia vegan restaurant plans to soon cease regular operations as its owners look to transition to a “next chapter.”

A Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen, which has been located at 2338 Main St., just north of Elmwood Avenue, for a number of years, announced the coming changes in a post from owner and chef Folami Geter on Facebook and in a lengthy FAQ page on the Peace of Soul website.

“We’re taking an extended break here at A Peace of Soul to discover our ‘what’s next,’” the restaurant noted on its website.

From Feb. 4 through March 7, A Peace of Soul will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 7 to 9:45 a.m. for breakfast, and then 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for lunch and dinner. Beyond that it will be open Saturdays only on March 14, 21 and 28.

As to whether the closure will be permanent or if the restaurant may move somewhere else, it appears the future is unclear, per the restaurant’s website.

“We don’t have concrete plans to share yet,” the site notes. “Right now, we’re focused on celebrating this era and exploring possibilities for the future.”

The Peace of Soul website notes owners are considering options for the building at 2338 Main, including lease or purchase by a new operator.

The restaurant’s website notes that Peace of Soul will likely continue to do food truck pop-ups in Columbia and across the Southeast, and advised customers to keep an eye on its social media accounts for updates.

“Thank you guys so much for two decades of support and love, and for showing up for us,” Geter said in a Feb. 4 video message on Facebook. “Our story isn’t over, it’s just changing shape.”
