A new Chapin restaurant has opened it doors. Check out what’s on the menu

A new restaurant with sandwiches, wings, burgers, wood-fired pizzas and more has debuted in the heart of Chapin.

Chapin Ale House, which is located at 912 Chapin Road, opened its doors on Monday, June 8, as noted by the business on social media. The sign in front of the restaurant on Monday noted it is “now open.”

The new restaurant is located at the site of the former J. Peters Bar & Grill in Chapin. Well-known local restaurateur Jason McDowell, who also owns the J.R. Cash’s locations in Chapin and elsewhere, as well as Cash’s Chicken in Chapin, bought the former J. Peters location and has reimagined and renovated it as Chapin Ale House, which McDowell described as a “food forward” gastropub in a previous interview with The State.

McDowell also purchased Rusty Anchor and Catfish Johnny’s, the side-by-side indoor restaurant and outdoor bar & grill at 1925 Johnson Marina Road in Chapin, on the shores of Lake Murray. He rebranded Catfish Johnny’s as the Nauti Turtle Bar & Grill.

The menu at Chapin Ale House, shared by the restaurant on Facebook on Monday, includes a deep roster of sandwiches, burgers, wings, appetizers, salads, soups, desserts and more.

There also are a number of entrées on the menu, including chicken & waffles, brown butter pecan salmon, steak frites, blackened fried shrimp mac and cheese, housemade meatloaf and more.

And the Chapin Ale House has a selection of wood-fired pizzas. That includes, among others, the Squeaky Wheel (which has salami, pepperoni, sausage, ham and bacon) and the Angry Hawaiian (which comes with ham, pineapple, red onion, banana peppers and a jerk sauce drizzle).

Chapin Road is a busy thoroughfare leading into and out of the growing town near Lake Murray. About 16,000 cars per day travel down the road, per SC Department of Transportation data.
