Richland Library Ballentine plans to be unveiled

Richland Library Ballentine will give the community a chance to get a sneak peek at construction plans for the community’s new library building at a public hearing Tuesday.

The location manager and architect will be on hand from 3-6 p.m. at the current Ballentine branch library, 1321 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo, to talk with residents and answer any questions about the design and building features.

Library officials say a freestanding library facility in the growing northwest region of Richland County has been a part of the library’s capital needs plan since its development in 2007. The area has had access to a small store-front facility, but a new 13,000-square-foot building will be open in late fall 2016. Thanks to support from Richland County Council, seven acres of land at 1200 Dutch Fork Road in Ballentine was purchased in 2012 for the project.
