A former Richland County deputy was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor after a family member allegedly found child pornography on his lap top computer and turned him in to authorities.
Darrell Thomas Tucker’s computer was given to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department by a family member after “several explicit pictures of minors that were very disturbing were found on it,” Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.
Investigators found more than 180 photographs classified as child pornography on the 44-year-old Lugoff man’s computer. The images were downloaded on four occasions between July 2011 and January 2013, Lott said.
Tucker worked as a Richland County deputy for nearly 16 years. He was fired in January 2014 for a policy violation, Lott said.
He was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Wednesday night.
