A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a truck late Sunday afternoon in Lexington, according to the Coroner’s Office.
Galen Leroy Pelletier, 47, of Gilbert was killed when a Dodge pickup truck collided with his motorcycle at the intersection of Calks Ferry Road and Lost Branch Road around 4:53 p.m. Sunday, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.
Pelletier and an individual riding on the back of his motorcycle were traveling west on Calks Ferry Road when they were hit by the truck, which had three occupants in it, according to Fisher.
Neither Pelletier or his passenger were wearing helmets, Fisher said. Both were taken to Palmetto Health Richland where Pelletier died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The condition of the passenger is unknown at this time, Fisher said. The occupants of the pickup truck were restrained and not injured.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the accident.
