A 26-year-old Northeast Richland man is in serious condition at Palmetto Health Richland after being shot by what Richland County Sheriff's Department investigators said was a would-be robber.
The victim was approached around 12:10 a.m. by two men wearing bandannas on Irongate Drive in the Greengate subdivision, the sheriff's department said. An altercation began in which the victim was shot in the stomach.
Ten minutes before, a 39-year-old male on nearby Firebridge Road was approached by what were likely the same two men, the department said. That man had just pulled up to his home, and he was able to back out and drive away without harm.
