Home daycare owner accused of killing children in her care denied bond

A circuit court judge denied bond Monday for a 39-year-old Richland County woman who is charged with two counts of homicide by child abuse and who likely is to face a third homicide charge.

Andrea Person, 39, ran a daycare out of her home for 14 years and is accused of killing two children in her care. Person will remain jailed in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on the homicide charges.

Judge Diane Goodstein, citing concerns Person might continue to care for children, denied bond. Goodstein said she did not consider Person a flight risk.

Person is charged in the deaths of two children, in 1998 and 2001. She is a suspect in another child death on April 2. Richland County Sheriff's investigators say charges are likely in that case.
