Women report armed robbery in Five Points

Two women said they were robbed of their purses by two men after leaving a Five Points business early this morning.

According to a Columbia Police Department report, Columbia residents Laura Ann Rayment, 22, and Katherine Mariana Edwards, age unavailable, left 747 Saluda Ave. around 3:30 a.m. The women were near Ms. Edwards' car when an unknown black male wearing a baggy white T-shirt and blue jeans approached holding a silver handgun.

The report said the suspect demanded the women's purses. After the women refused, the man grabbed Rayment's purse. Edwards then handed her purse over.

The suspect left on Greene Street on foot toward Columbia, along with a second man. The second suspect was described as a black male wearing s dark shirt and pants. Both men were described as about 6 feet in height, weighing 150 to 160 pounds.
