Sheriff: Separate nightclub shootings appear related

December 19, 2008 11:36 AM

Richland County investigators are looking for the passengers of a car they believe was involved in two separate shootings at a Bluff Road nightclub over the weekend. Reports indicate a white car seen taking the victim in the first shooting to the hospital later returned to Club Diamond and was involved in the second shooting, Sheriff Leon Lott said. The first shooting happened at 3 a.m. Sunday; the second at 3:45 a.m.

Lott said after dropping the first victim off at the hospital, the occupants of the white car drove back to the club and opened fire on the people standing in the parking lot.

One man was hit in the chest in the second shooting when multiple shots were fired from the into the crowd, Lott said.

Investigators are working to determine who the occupants of the car were that drove the first victim to the hospital and who returned to the club.

The victims as well as the car's occupants are believed to have been at the club prior to the incidents, reports indicate. Officers believe one of the men was wearing a black ball cap with flaps over his ears.

Anyone with information is asked to call crimestoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
