Police: Man laid in street to snag ride

A shirtless, drunken Bluffton man desperate for a ride home was arrested after trying to stop traffic by lying on a busy road, according to a Beaufort County sheriff's report released Monday.

One motorist said the man also jumped out into traffic in his attempt to get people to stop and give him a ride.

Deputies found the man along S.C. 46 near Rose Dhu Creek at 10:42 p.m. Saturday.

The 25-year-old was arrested and taken to the county jail on a public disorderly conduct charge. His back was dirty from lying on the asphalt, the report stated.
