Deputy IDs, arrests most wanted suspect at courthouse

A Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputy who provides security at the Marc H. Westbrook Lexington County Judicial Center today arrested a Most Wanted suspect who was attending an unrelated court proceeding.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Deputy Gerald Watson arrested Herman George Grant Jr., 38, of 322 S. Hall Drive, West Columbia, at 10:05 a.m. on arrest warrants on 12 counts of distributing crack cocaine and four counts of distributing crack cocaine in proximity to a school. The arrest warrants were issued for Grant on Nov. 24, 2008.

Grant is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing, Metts said.
