Records indicate Richland County in 2008 saw a 44 percent drop in homicides from the previous year, Sheriff Leon Lott announced today.
Fourteen homicides were committed in 2008, Lott said. In 2007, there were 25 homicides committed, he said.
Lott stated credits community involvement, community partnerships and proactive law enforcement work with the drop.
