Richland County authorities are looking for two men they believe stole jewelry and documents from an elderly resident while posing as contractors.
Sheriff Leon Lott said that at about 3 p.m. Jan. 7, two men knocked on the door of a Broad River Road home and told the victim that they were contractors working on the water pipes in her backyard.
The first man said he needed to talk with his supervisor that was waiting outside and the second man convinced her to let him inside the home. Once inside, he asked the victim to take him to the backyard, while the first suspect went through the home and tookvseveral items totaling more than $3000.
The men were last seen fleeing in a black, four-door pick-up truck with a white sign on the door with black lettering.
Lott adds the two are described as tall and slender white males in their 40s or 50s with very short hair with no facial hair. One had dark brown hair; the other had reddish hair. They were last seen wearing light colored tops, khaki cargo pants and creamed colored hats.
