Sheriff: Tip leads to robbery arrest

An arrest has been made after a tip led Richland County officers to a robbery suspect.

Perry Gilmore was apprehended this morning around 10 a.m. in Lexington based on information received through Crime Stoppers, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said.

Gilmore, 23, was wanted for robbery, kidnapping, and lynching in connection with an incident on Feb. 5 on Parklane Road. He is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center pending bond

Reports indicate the suspect knocked on a man's car window and asked for loose change. When the man got out of the car, the suspect and a man who was with him attacked him and stole his wallet. The two suspects then fled in the man's Dodge Durango.

The vehicle was found two days later.

The other suspect, Stacardo Grissett, 19, was booked Feb. 13 at the county detention center and remains in jail. He also is charged with robbery, kidnapping and lynching.
