2nd suspect arrested in West Columbia home invasion

A second suspect in an Oct. 22 West Columbia home invasion has turned himself in.

Dennis James McCloud Jr., 18, of Dudley Road, turned himself in to the West Columbia Police Dept. on Monday.

He and McKenzie Clarence Boykin, 31, of Kenton Drive, Irmo, are charged with first-degree burglary, assault and battery with intent to kill, criminal conspiracy, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime, and kidnapping.

Boykin was arrested Oct. 26 in connection with the incident, in which a D Avenue resident was pistol-whipped in an attempted robbery. The resident's roommate interrupted the robbers, who fled.

The victim had to be hospitalized because of severe head injuries.

McCloud is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
