SLED investigates death of jail inmate

CHARLESTON - The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death of an inmate who died in the Charleston County jail.

Robert Adger Lamble III, 60, died last month after being arrested on charges of drunken driving and failure to stop for police.

A guard found Lamble dead in a cell in the jail's medical unit on Sept. 27. Officials say he had complained of seizures.

Chief Deputy Coroner Judy Koelpin says officials are awaiting test results to determine how Lamble died.

Sheriff's Maj. John Clark says the department is also reviewing the death.

Police had stopped Lamble after spotting him driving erratically on Sept. 24.
