Suspected nabbed in Midlands burglaries

Lexington County Sheriff's Department deputies and the Richland County Sheriff's Department arrested a 24-year-old Columbia man on Wednesday on charges he broke into three apartments at a Fernandina Road apartment complex in recent weeks.

Raheim Sade Stevens, 24, of 1212 Metze Road, Apartment 17-A, was arrested on one count of first-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of grand larceny and one count of stealing a motor vehicle, said Lexington Sheriff Jimmy Metts.

Stevens was arrested just before dawn Wednesday after Lexington deputies stopped an apartment burglary in progress at Raintree Apartments at 3500 Fernandina Road in the St. Andrews community, warrants allege.

Several minutes later, Richland County Sheriff's deputies took Stevens into custody at an apartment complex at 3200 Fernandina Road in the St. Andrews community.

Warrants allege that in the burglaries, Stevens took expensive rings and electronic equipment from apartments after forcing open the dwellings' front doors.

Stevens is in the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
