Man accused in break-in, rape arrested

A man accused of breaking into a home in January and raping a woman has been caught.

Roosevelt Anthony Reaves, 32, was charged with criminal sexual conduct and first degree burglary, the Richland County Sheriff's Department reported.

Reaves is accused of breaking into a home at 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 21 where he pulled bed linens off the victim and forced her to have sex with him. He also allegedly stole the woman's cell phone before fleeing, the sheriff's department reported.

The woman was taken to Palmetto Health Richland where DNA evidence was collected. Investigators at the sheriff's forensic laboratory were able to identify Reaves, according to a sheriff's report.

He was arrested Feb. 11 in Atlanta and is awaiting extradition to Columbia.
