The family of an Orangeburg mother accused of suffocating her two children before dumping them in a river appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show today.
Family members told Winfrey Wednesday that Shaquan Duley went into a rage hours before the toddlers' deaths because her sister gave them baths without her permission, ABC News reports.
Duley, 29, is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 2-year-old Devean and 18-month-old Ja'van.
Helen Duley told Winfrey that her daughter was 'raging like a crazy person, none like I've ever seen her before' after her sister, Adriane Duley, gave them baths, according to ABC News.
Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies found the two children inside a car that had been submerged in the Edisto River. Duley initially claimed her children drowned when their car careened into the river but investigators say she later confessed to strangling the children in a non-descript hotel before putting them inside the car.
The case has made national headlines, appearing in Time magazine and on several national networks.
The show will air at 4 p.m. on WCBD Channel 2.
