CHARLESTON - A doctor at the Charleston Women’s Medical Center in West Ashley was arrested and is being accused of pointing a firearm at abortion protesters Saturday morning.
Police say 62-year-old Gary Boyle drove into the parking lot of the clinic on Ashley River Road shortly before 9 a.m. when three protesters approached. Boyle pointed a handgun at them, according to police.
One of the protesters, 50-year-old John Karafa, said he, another man and a 17-year-old boy noticed the weapon and walked to the front of the building to call 911.
Boyle was arrested and charged pointing a firearm.
