ORANGEBURG - A 64-year-old Orangeburg man was killed early this morning as he attempted to cross a highway and was hit by a truck.
The S.C. Highway Patrol reported that the man was crossing U.S. 301 about two miles south of Orangeburg when he was hit by a Ford Ranger pickup truck around 12:05 a.m.
The northbound truck was driven by Herman Jennings, 32, of Orangeburg.
The pedestrian was wearing a dark shirt and khaki pants, said Sgt. Kelley Hughes of the Highway Patrol.

He was taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries around 1:22 a.m.
The wreck remains under investigation.
