A third man has been arrested in last month’s shooting death of a S.C. State University student.
Hillard D. Pinkney, 22,of Holly Hill has been charged with accessory after the fact of murder, the State Law Enforcement Division reported. Pinkney allegedly was one of four men who were part of an on-campus drug deal that went bad.
Jonathan Bailey, 22, died from a gunshot wound to the chest after he was shot in the chest on April 15. Investigators have said that Bailey had arranged a drug transaction with the other men. The got into a discussion over the quality of the marijuana being sold and then one of the other men tried to rob Bailey, according to an arrest warrant. When Bailey tried to escape he was shot.
Ray Anthony Alston Jr., 22, of North Charleston has been charged with murder in the case, and an unnamed 16-year-old has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, SLED reported.
A fourth person involved in the drug transaction and shooting has not been identified.
