A man living in a house in the Carriage Oaks subdivision off Clemson Road in northeast Richland County caught a burglary suspect in the act, according to the county sheriff’s department.
The man was inside his house Sunday morning shortly before 9 a.m. when he heard a loud kicking at his back door – the sound of someone trying to beat the door in, said sheriff’s spokesman Curtis Wilson.
The man, who had a loaded revolver, quickly went around to the back of his house where he found the suspect and made him drop to the ground.
“He had the suspect at gunpoint down on the ground,” Wilson said. “He was able to detain the suspect until deputies arrived,” Wilson said.
The suspect was identified as Jayquan Watson, 21. No other information was available.
