Authorities are searching for a Lexington man last seen in the Home Branch community of Clarendon County.
Willie Butler, 84, of Lake Murray Boulevard in Lexington, was last seen Wednesday morning before dawn near Jackson and Woodard roads, about seven miles northeast of downtown Manning.
Sheriff Randy Garrett said the search for Butler included a SLED helicopter and tracking dogs. “This morning, some people found him broke down in the Home Branch community out of gas,” he said. “They were like to run over him because it was still dark and he was in the road.”
Butler is known to have some medical issues, including possible dementia, including early signs of Alzheimer’s. He was last seen wearing green pants and a long-sleeved, light-colored shirt. Garrett described him as a black male, 5-foot-5-inches tall, weighing 145 pounds. He wears glasses.
