One person has died in a house fire on the 2000 block of Old Dunbar Road in West Columbia, Harrison Cahill, spokesman for Lexington County said late Tuesday night.

Firefighters arrived on scene around 10 p.m. to find heavy smoke and flames at the single family home.

Two people were able to make it out of the home but they said another person was still inside.

Firefighters were able to find the person but efforts at resuscitation were unsuccessful, Cahill said.

The identity of the person killed in the fire was not released. Two others who were displaced are being assisted by the Red Cross, said Cahill.
