Swansea man charged with murder in fatal May shooting


A Swansea man wanted for a fatal May 30 shooting has turned himself in to face a murder charge, according to authorities.

Jeremy Antonio Williams, 22, turned himself in just after 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. He will be charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 35-year-old Derrick James Jones.

Jones died en route to a hospital after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the 100 block of South Hampton Road near Red Bank about 5:15 p.m. May 30, officials have said. Investigators have not released any information on a possible motive or how the two men knew each other.
