Elgin man arrested after police get child porn tip

An Elgin man was arrested Thursday on three charges connected to sexual exploitation of a minor, S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson said.

Thomas O. Turner, 51, was arrested after investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploted Children that led them to his residence, Wilson said. Turner is accusd Children that led them to his residence, Wilson said. Turner is accused of distributing and possessing child pornography via social media, Wilson said.

Turner is charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, a felony offense punishable by up to ten years imprisonment; and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree, a felony offense punishable by up to ten years imprisonment on each count, the attorney general’s office said.

Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Attorney General’s Office made the arrest. Investigators with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations, both also part of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation and arrest.
