Women led deputy on chase after stealing from concession stand, officers say

Two women are accused of stealing from a concession stand at a Pelion sports complex then leading a deputy on a car chase.

Brittney McDaniel, 20, and Kayla Wallace, 23, face not only burglary charges, but also charges for drugs, alcohol and failing to stop for police blue lights.

A Lexington County sheriff’s deputy saw the women leaving the concession stand as he responded to a burglary call at Cooper Park in Pelion on Friday morning, the sheriff’s department said.

According to the sheriff’s department, the two women jumped in their car and led the deputy on a short chase. When the it ended, the deputy found an ax and metal hook tool in the car with the women, along with other items that belonged to the sports complex.

The deputy also found open containers of alcohol and an unmarked bottle of prescription pills in the car.

McDaniel is 20 years old, according to online records from the Lexington County Detention Center. Wallace’s age was not immediately known.

McDaniel is charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, open container of beer and liquor in a vehicle, minor in possession of beer and liquor and possession of a schedule II narcotic.

Wallace is charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, failure to stop for blue lights, open container of beer and liquor in a vehicle and possession of a schedule II narcotic.
