Authorities are investigating the slaying of a man in front of his home in Richland County on Friday.
Richland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call of a shooting in the 100 block of Gale River Road in Northeast Richland County around 2 a.m., said Sgt. Brittany Jackamonis, spokeswoman for the agency. When deputies arrived, they found a 19-year-old man dead in the front yard of his home.
The victim was identified as Khalil Cook. He died from a gunshot wound to the torso, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.
Louis Corbett IV, 20, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced Friday afternoon.

The two men were acquaintances and were involved in an altercation in the front yard at the Cook’s residence, according to police. Corbett returned to the scene two hours later, police said, and was arrested.
The altercation was drug-related, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Corbett is being held at the Alvin S Glenn Detention Center.
