A Mexican man who has illegally entered the U.S. multiple times might not get to leave for a long time.
That’s because Marcial Esteban-Vasquez, 39, has entered a guilty plea in federal court in Columbia to illegal re-entry, according to U.S. Attorney Beth Drake.
Esteban-Vasquez’s fate is in the hands of U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie, who can impose a 20-year prison sentence and/or a fine of $250,000.
Esteban-Vasquez has previously been deported three times, according to Drake’s office.
He was encountered by ICE-Enforcement and Removal Operations Deportation Officers on Dec. 13, 2017 while they were assisting DEA agents in an investigation of Esteban-Vasquez.
