An Orangeburg man has been charged with attempted murder in an incident of domestic abuse that happened March 3, 2018. Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell reports that Laterrence Mack, 34, of Orangeburg, was charged after a woman suffered knife wounds to the neck.
According to police reports, the victim told deputies that her husband started an argument with her and she ran to another room to escape the man. The man caught the victim and sliced her neck several times with a box cutter. The victim managed to flee the residence and collapsed in the front yard.
EMS units were called to Mack’s home where they found the victim lying on the ground with several people tending to her.
Several children were inside the home and were not injured.
Mack was arrested and bond was deferred during a magistrate’s court hearing to a circuit court judge at a later date. He faces up to 30 years, if convicted.
