Richland County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a car chase Wednesday morning that ended after the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a home near North Main in Columbia.
The incident began shortly after 10:30 a.m. when a deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Plumbers Road and US 21 (North Main St.). The vehicle had been reported stolen on Tuesday.
Richland County Sheriff deputies attempted to pull over the vehicle but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. The short chase ended after the vehicle crashed into the front porch of a home at the intersection of Wilkes Rd and Solomon Street in the Greenview neighborhood, off North Main Street.
The driver was arrested while trying to flee the scene. One passenger was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. There was no structural damage done to the home and there was no one in the home at the time of the crash.
Richland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation.
