Kershaw County teens found decomposing body. Now a homicide investigation is underway

A homicide investigation is underway after two teenagers found a decomposing body behind a building in Kershaw County.

Deputies responded to a building on Bob Hugh Road in the Jefferson area of Kershaw County just after 6 p.m. Friday, the sheriff’s office said in a release Monday. Two 16-year-old boys told deputies they found a body behind the building.

The man was identified as 30-year-old Tykendrick Jamail Williamson, the release states. It appeared Williamson’s body had been placed behind the building several days earlier.

The sheriff’s office did not say how Williamson died.

Kershaw investigators are working with Lancaster County sheriff’s investigators, since Williamson was known to frequent the area and was involved in a physical altercation with a man in Lancaster County the week before he was found dead, Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said.

Investigators do not yet have a solid motive but are working the case and interviewing witnesses, Matthews said.

Anyone with information about Williamson’s death should call Investigator Chris Davis with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office at 803-425-1512 or Investigator Brad Whiteside of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388.
