The man accused in the shooting death of Forest Acres policeman Greg Alia now faces additional charges, the State Law Enforcement Division announced Thursday.
Jarvis Hall, 34, of Eastover, is charged with possession of stolen weapons, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, receiving stolen goods and removing or affixing a license plate.
Alia, 32, was shot to death Sept. 30 after responding to a report of a suspicious person just before 8 a.m. at Richland Mall at Forest Drive and Beltline Boulevard. Hall was taken into custody and charged later that day.
It was the first time in more than 40 years that a Forest Acres police officer had been shot and killed on duty.
Alia, a graduate of Richland Northeast High School and the University of South Carolina, was a seven-year veteran of the Forest Acres department.
Hall previously was charged with murder and accused of using a stolen handgun to shoot Alia.
The new charges against Hall, a mix of felonies and misdemeanors, carry jail time and/or fines.
Hall is being held at Richland County’s Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
