Shooting victims uncooperative with police, officials say

Two shooting victims are not being cooperative with law enforcement, according to Richland County Sheriff’s Department officials.

On Sunday, deputies received a call that gunshots had been fired at Piney Grove Road, said spokesman Curtis Wilson.

Deputies found a victim at the corner of Broad River Road and St. Andrews Road, Wilson said.

That victim had been shot in the lower body and was transported to Palmetto Health Richland hospital, Wilson said. The victim was uncooperative with law enforcement regarding what happened, Wilson said.

Near 7 a.m. another gunshot victim showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower body and that victim is also uncooperative, Wilson said.

Wilson said authorities believe the two incidents are connected and asked anyone with information to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1 (888) CRIME-SC.
