Batesburg-Leesville schools in lockdown after bank robbed

All five schools in Lexington School District 3 were locked down for about 30 minutes today after a bank robbery was reported in Batesburg-Leesville, district spokeswoman Judy Turner Fox said.

Fox said the lock-down order was lifted after 12:30 p.m. when police notified the district that the robber had been arrested.

“We’re back on a regular schedule, and everybody is fine,” she said.

The robbery reportedly occurred at the Bank of America in the 100 block of East Columbia Avenue (U.S. 1), Fox said. Batesburg-Leesville police could not immediately provide details.
