Keenan High School principal Steve Wilson said Wednesday he wants more parent input before deciding whether to require students to wear uniforms.
Wilson thinks uniforms would foster a more serious academic environment at the Richland 1 high school. He said the timing is right because the school moves to its new building on Pisgah Church Road in August.
Keenan parents will receive surveys in the mail next week to gauge their support for uniforms, Wilson said.
About 150 parents attended a May 10 information meeting about uniforms; 95 percent indicated support, Wilson said.

“But that's not even a third of the parents,” Wilson said.
Keenan enrolled about 870 students during the 2006-07 school year.
Wilson said he will implement the uniform policy if 70 percent or more of parents indicate support.
