Columbia College police honored

Columbia College's Police Department was awarded the S.C. Law Enforcement Officer Association Crime Prevention Award for 2009.

The department's application for the award came with letters of support from faculty, staff, community members and other law enforcement officials.

"We were very proud to submit the details of our crime prevention process for consideration," Chief Howard Cook said. "It's a wonderful honor to be recognized by our peers in this way, and I'm particularly proud to serve as chief for such an outstanding group of officers."
