Winter graduation at Southern Wesleyan

A former college president, a mayor and a homeland security official will address more than 500 graduating students at Southern Wesleyan University's winter graduation programs Dec. 10 and 12 at the Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on campus.

David Medders, a Southern Wesleyan graduate who went on to become president of Bethany Bible College in Sussex, New Brunswick, will speak at the Dec. 10 graduation ceremony.

Carol Burdette, a Southern Wesleyan graduate and mayor of Pendleton, will be the morning speaker at the Dec. 12 ceremony. Harold Reaves, director of Homeland Security in Columbia and a Southern Wesleyan graduate, will address students in the afternoon portion of the program.

The Dec. 12 program is for students graduating from the school's adult and graduate studies program. Students in the school's traditional program will graduate Dec. 10.
