'Don't forget to dream,' Harrell tells grads

S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell, R-Charleston, told USC graduates this week that despite the state and nation's sagging economy, they must not lose hope.

"Hope is fundamental to the American dream," Harrell said. "As long as you continue to embrace hope, you'll stay young. Don't forget to dream."

Harrell, a USC graduate, was awarded an honorary degree of public service during Monday's ceremony. More than 2,500 students graduated from the University of South Carolina's eight campuses at the Colonial Life Arena.
