A Blair native was sworn in Thursday as Allen University’s 24th president.
Pamela M. Wilson becomes the first woman to be named president of the historically black college of nearly 700 students. Wilson said she hopes to usher in a more stable and formative period for Allen with a focus on raising standards, diversifying the student body and getting the university back on sound financial footing.
A reception and dinner are planned tonight at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, capping a week of activities to celebrate Wilson’s inauguration to the top post of the African Methodist Episcopal school.
