A White Knoll grad had a special surprise waiting for her at the end of the stage Saturday at graduation: her mother, home from Afghanistan.
Army Master Sgt. Gillian Michael flew in on leave from a deployment just in time to see her daughter, Jazmyn, get her diploma at the Carolina Coliseum. But instead of meeting her beforehand, Gillian Michael kept out of sight until a little after 3 p.m., when her daughter's name was called as one of White Knoll High School's 441 graduates.
