I had the honor and privilege of going to Washington on the Honor Flight sponsored by Lexington Medical Center on May 22. That was a very special day for me, visiting the World War II, Korean and Vietnam monuments, other national memorials and Arlington National Cemetery with 10 fellow Brookland-Cayce High School veterans and many other veterans.
Every minute of the trip was well planned and organized from the time I arrived at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, our time in Washington and on our return to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
We were welcomed at each destination we visited by large crowds, bands and children with smiles and cheers, handmade cards, flowers and small American flags.
We were all well cared for on our trip. So many people have come up to me, shaking my hand and thanking me for my service. I am proud to have served my country.
