S.C. Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster got a taste of acting as governor Friday, hearing from S.C. military base commanders.
McMaster told the commanders that he was representing S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley at the meeting, which the governor normally chairs. He added Haley will remain governor until she is confirmed by the U.S. Senate as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
“ ‘It is a great day in South Carolina,’ as she would say if she were here,’ the Republican lieutenant governor said.
McMaster demonstrated his own pride in the Palmetto State as well.
“This is the greatest place in the world to be," McMaster said, adding his father used to tell him: “You can always tell where the best places on earth are because that’s where all the generals retire to.”
