Lawmakers will finish up the first week of the 2017 session on Friday with an update on South Carolina’s private school tax credits.
A joint education committee will discuss Exceptional SC, the program that allows S.C. taxpayers to donate money to a private school scholarship program in exchange for a tax credit. The state offers up to $10 million in credits for donations to the program.
Sen. Tom Davis, R-Beaufort, has filed legislation to more than double the available tax credits, to $25 million.
