When Kamala Harris will be back in Columbia to speak to the NAACP

Kamala Harris will be back in Columbia to speak to the state NAACP next month.

The senator from California has been invited to speak to the annual Freedom Fund banquet, Harris’ presidential campaign announced.

The banquet will be held Saturday, June 8, at the Brookland Baptist conference center in West Columbia.

The trip marks Harris’ return to Brookland Baptist after hosting a teachers’ roundtable there on April 30 that focused on her proposal to boost educators’ pay. That proposal will be a focus of an announced event for Harris on May 28 in Greenville, too.

Speaking to an NAACP conference in Detroit last weekend, Harris focused more on voting rights and criminal justice reform, as well as criticism of Attorney General William Barr’s handling of the Mueller report.
